Brie Cheese with Guava & Pistachios

This quick and tasty snack combines the delicate sweet flavors or guava jam with crackers, cheese and pistachios to create a tantalizing combination of flavors.
Nuts and cheeses pair well naturally, but some pairings make a more lasting impression than others. When pairing nuts with cheese, or any foods for that matter, you can think of the tasting either accomplishing a complementary or a contrasting flavor profile. With cheeses and nuts, you can easily do both, especially if you throw one of our delicious jams into the mix.
Contrasting flavors oftentimes complement one another, such as sweet with salty or spicy and sweet.

Adding contrasting textures can liven things up further. Adding pistachios to a creamy cheese together with a spot of guava preserves not only creates a fascinating contradiction of sweet and salty, it's also a great example of how crunchy accents fit into creamy backdrops.
Want to switch Brie for another cheese? Parmesan and chèvre are both wonderful pairings for pistachios. Try pairing spiced pecans with a creamy or double-cream cheese or use walnuts in combination with blue cheese. Drizzle your creations with your favorite jam; the possibilities are virtually endless.
